Movie Review: Ice Age 2

While I'm on holidays I decided to treat myself to the movies. So far I have seen Ice Age 2. Unfortunately I chose to go when all the parents who wanted to shut the kids up for an hour, and fill them with popcorn and sugar laden "post mix" drinks, decided to go. Apart from that, it was a decent movie.

I was a bit weirded out by the change in the character Diego's eye colour from the first movie to this. In the first movie I'm pretty sure he has blue or green eyes, but in this one they are brown. A movie mistake perhaps?

I still like the first one better, but for $8.50 I'm not complaining.

Plot: The Ice Age is coming to an end, and the animals are delighting in their new world: a melting paradise of water parks, geysers and tar pits. But when Manny, Sid and Diego discover that the miles of melted ice will flood their valley, they must warn everyone and somehow figure out a way to escape the coming deluge.

It's A Single's Life For Me

I have friends who are married with kids; friends who are married without kids; friends in a relationship (be it hetero or gay); and friends who are single but have kids, but none that are close who are just single.

It's never bothered me before, but somehow, it has crept up on me without me being aware of it. It's almost like it's taunting me to my face saying 'nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah!' It is seriously depressing!

You begin to question if there is something wrong with you that your family and friends are not telling you about. Or if it's just your nose hair that you've forgotten to trim! *snort!*

I have thought about joining an internet dating site and I have in the past gone in and had a snoop at some of the profiles (both mens & womens - to get an idea of what one puts in these things), but I'm not sure that it's my thing.

Also, I have several friends who have used these sites and most of them have not had much success. I know of only 1 person who has had a successful relationship and that is 'Viv'.

Maybe I should try the picking up in the supermarket, but knowing my luck they will already be taken or gay! :(

Bon Voyage

After work today I headed down to the Moon & Sixpence for a farewell lunch for Vivian.

She has decided to move back to the States to be closer to her family, especially her new granddaughter Autumn - she also has another granddaughter on the way.

It was officially her last day of work last Friday, but as she wasn't sure exactly when she would be flying out, we decided to have a last meal together.

Busy Week

Phew! It's been a busy week!

I've been doing overtime for the last month or so, 10+ hours a day, Monday to Friday and it is really starting to wear me down. I was lucky enough to have Wednesday off this week because I had to work today.

I didn't even get to sleep in on my day off because I managed to wangle an appointment with my hairdresser who lectured me. I haven't been since July last year and my hair was really starting to look the worse for wear.

It's looking a lot healthier - I haven't been this colour, nor this short for a long time. I'm loving it!!

Movie Review: Cry Wolf

I dragged a friend to lunch at the Old Bailey today. We had a couple of drinks with lunch before heading off to the movie. A few plot twists keep you thinking throughout the movie. It's pretty easy to guess the ending but I mainly watched it for Jared Padalecki (Sam from Supernatural) - what a spunk!

Plot: After one too many incidents of bad behaviour at his last school, Owen Matthews arrives at Westlake Prep – where a young woman has recently been found murdered in the dark woods near the boarding school’s campus. Owen quickly falls in with the school’s unofficial “Liars’ Club”, including the beautiful and savvy Dodger and quick-talking, short-tempered Tom. At Owen’s suggestion, his new friends decide to expand their game’s reach beyond campus, by spreading an online rumour that a serial killer called “The Wolf” committed the recent murder and is planning to strike again. The mischievous group’s descriptions of “The Wolf’s” intended victims are based on the people they know best – each other. Only when the school’s journalism teacher, Rich Walker, warns the group about the kinds of predators that lurk on the Internet does Owen begin to regret sending their falsified story into cyberspace.

When the described “victims” suddenly start to disappear, Owen, Dodger and Tom are no longer able to determine where the lies end and the truth begins. As someone – or something – starts hunting the players themselves, the game turns terrifyingly real.

How Cute!

Tonight on my way home from work I was filling up at the petrol station and was walking back to my car after having paid, when I heard a voice saying "Hey lady, you're gorgeous!"

I looked around and figured it was coming from the car at the pump next to mine. The occupant of the car, I hear you ask - a four year old boy! I couldn't help but smile!

It lifted my spirits at the end of a very long and difficult day.

Sleepyhead

Travelling home on the train from work last night, there was a young guy, probably in his early 20's, having a bit of a snooze all the way from Leederville to Edgewater. It's not like it was late or anything - it was around 7.30.

It was quite funny because he started in an upright position and almost ended up with his head on the shoulder of the gentleman sitting next to him. * big grin*

Movie Review: When A Stranger Calls

I saw this yesterday with Rhian, a friend from work. We headed off to Oscars for lunch but neither of us were very hungry so we only had starters. The film didn't rely on showing gory details, it was just implied. One scene caused a couple of young girls in the cinema to scream which was amusing.

We both like a good thriller and both liked this one. I would like to see the original to compare.

Plot: While most of her friends head off for a high school bonfire, Jill must take on a babysitting job to pay her parents some of the money she owes them for her excessive cell phone bill. The babysitting job is for a doctor and his wife who live in an upmarket, but remote and rambling, three-storey lakeside home. It looks like it’s going to be an easy stint for Jill. The kids are already tucked up in bed with the flu, so when the doc and his wife leave, she settles down for what she believes will be a quiet night. First, there are strange noises, then the phone rings, there’s no one there. It rings again and there’s heavy breathing. Is it a prank? The calls keep coming, culminating with the blood-freezing question, Have you checked the children? Moving from room to room in the creepy house, Jill’s fears intensify with each menacing call as she tries to work out what’s happening and what to do. When she finally knows, a terrifying cat and mouse game begins.
