After a tense week and a half, they have kissed and made up, so everything is back to normal! *phew*

Work Colleague Rant

I have been having problems with one of my work colleagues over the last few days. The whole thing started last Friday and has been going on ever since with no end in sight.

My supervisor took aside one of my team mates and explained that it had been brought to his attention by one of the managers, that the way she had been handling certain enquiries was incorrect. He then explained how management wanted her to be handling the enquiry. She ended up in tears in the toilets and was like that, of and on, for the rest of the day.

Now, you would have thought that after a long weekend (and in her case, an extra long weekend because she also had Tuesday off), that she would have taken on board the information given and be getting on with the job at hand. Yeah right!!

Instead of being mature and learning from it, she is being pedantic and petty - making snide comments and ranting about the supervisor (who has only passed on what he has been told by management). Plus she is also completely ignoring him, not saying a word to him. How juvenile is that?!

For example... we were told yesterday that today was going to be a free dress day. In keeping with the theme - the World Cup - we were to come dressed in the colours of our assigned countries. When she arrived at work, she was wearing her uniform. When someone asked if she forgot, she made a comment along the lines of it being a 'spastic' idea.

Her negativity at the moment has started to affect me, so much so that I hardly talk to her for fear of setting her off on a rant.

Luckily, I'm able to speak freely to my supervisor about it and how it is affecting me - otherwise I might be likely to tell her to pull her head in, and thus incur her wrath too - so he is looking at possibly moving her to another desk.

The funny thing is, she has only been sitting there for a few weeks because she asked to be moved out of her last team because she didn't get on with one of them!

Lawyer Joke

Lawyers should never ask a witness a question if they aren't prepared for the answer.

During a trial in a small town, the prosecuting lawyer called his first witness, an elderly grandmother, to the stand. He approached her and asked, "Mrs Jones, do you know me?"

She replied, "Why, yes I do know you, Mr Williams. I've known you since you were a young boy, and frankly, you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot when you haven't the brains to realise you will never amount to anything more than a cheap paper pusher. Yes, I know you."

The lawyer was stunned! Not knowing what else to do, he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs Jones, do you know the defence lawyer?"

She again replied, "Why yes I do. I've known Mr Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone and his law practice is one of the worst in the entire country. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes, I know him."

The defence lawyer almost died. The judge asked both lawyers to approach the bench, and in a very quiet voice, said, "Neither of you bastards better ask her if she knows me."

Radio Station Freebies

I was driving around Osborne Park yesterday, looking for a shop, and happened to be going past Rick Hart when I saw that a local radio station's car was parked on the kerb giving out stuff. I pulled over, jumped out and was given a bag of 'goodies' which included some popcorn, yoghurt & a carton of ice coffee.

Today I was deciding whether to go to Hillarys for brunch and to browse the shops or go to Subiaco markets before heading off to see a movie. I decided on the Subi markets, so jumped on the freeway. I was channel surfing the radio when one station announced that they were at Hillarys giving away stuff!

I decided on Subi markets and was driving past Homebase when there was another (different) local radio station's car giving stuff out. This time I got a can of zero coke, the quokka magazine and a small packet of twisties.

I don't drink either ice coffee or coke zero, but how cool is that?!

Movie Review: Take The Lead

Having nothing better to do on a Sunday afternoon of a long weekend, I took myself to this movie (it's escapism... need I say more?)

Plot: Inspired by the true story of Pierre Dulaine, an inspirational Manhattan dance teacher and competitor who volunteers his time to teach ballroom dancing to a diverse group of New York inner-city high school students serving detention.

The students are initially sceptical of Dulaine, especially when they learn what he’s there to teach them, but his unwavering commitment and dedication slowly inspire them to embrace the programme. In fact, they even take it one step further and combine Dulaine’s classical dance with their unique hip-hop style and music to create a high-energy fusion.

As Dulaine becomes a mentor for his students, many of whom haven’t had much to strive towards in their lives, he inspires them to hone their craft for a prestigious city ballroom competition, and in return they share with each other valuable lessons about pride, respect and honour.

I was given a lift home tonight in a new Mitsubishi Evo - a new 'toy' for Ace.

I've never been in a 'high performance' car before and could not really see the attraction. I mean, you're paying a lot of money for a car that you can't use to it's full capabilities (not legally anyway). Sure it reaches light speed in about 5 seconds (I'm a girl who is not into these things) but where and when are you going to be able to launch into hyperspace while driving around Perth?

In saying that, it was pretty cool and if given the opportunity, would probably do it again. At least next time I will know what to expect of the car and of the crazy driver. * grin *
