Moving Day

Move in day did not go so smoothly today…

My fridge & washing machine, which were supposed to be delivered at 8.15, were not loaded onto the truck. I was informed that the earliest I could have them delivered would be on Monday. After several calls, they were finally delivered mid afternoon. But the fun didn’t stop there!! The doors on the unit are not ‘normal’ size, they are slightly smaller so we had to cross our fingers and hope that the fridge would fit through the front door. We had to remove all the packaging but it did just fit.

I was supposed to get a call about 30 minutes before my lounge was to be delivered which never happened, instead they turned up just as I was about to duck up to the shop to get some milk.

There was more bad news... The delivery guy told me that the lounges would not fit through the door. My only option was to remove both front doors & the frame for the security door and I would have to remove the feet off my lounge & it may just fit. He didn't have the tools to do it and would not wait 5 minutes for my parents to come back to do it.

We ended up getting them in the door after much drama - they were both sofa beds so aren't exactly light!!

I then discovered that I had no hot water and could not get the pilot light on the heater lit, so went without a shower after lifting and moving heavy stuff all day.

I have just spoken to my neighbour (who I also work with) and she has kindly offered me the use of her shower until my hot water is fixed.
